about today

Waking up to restlessness,
My mind in a state of mess,
A rumbling belly causing a bother,
It’s yet another day to weather.

I’d like to muster up my will,
Facing a battle that’s uphill,
Rummaging through my emotions,
Just going through the motions.

The grounds outside are calling,
Taunting a soul who’s unwilling
To slip out of the worn-out shoes,
And try to make no excuse.

Invited to have breakfast,
I let time pass so fast.
Though restraint was wearing thin,
I knew I would still win.

A wholesome bite, I thought,
The scale will not take note.
I’d been starving for a while;
It’s alright to see a smile.

But indulgence settled in,
The nice chair held me in,
Convincing me it was best
To surrender today to rest.
