returning from the storm

With innocence and shame in balance,
You lived your life in pretense,
Claiming games and cheers filled your days,
Instead of escaping in different ways.

Then a safe harbor came into view,
And you decided to embark anew.
Finally, a happy ending felt near,
Where skies and smiles were real and clear.

But the rain fell and storms ravaged on
As you tried to press the voyage along.
Your anchor turned out to be weak,
Now you are drowning in the deep.

From the hopeless abyss,
A nail-pierced hand surfaced,
Reaching out to the defeated sailor
Who had given up the will to moor.

And suddenly, the rage cleared—
The destination was here,
Where it all began,
The moment that you ran.

about today

Waking up to restlessness,
My mind in a state of mess,
A rumbling belly causing a bother,
It’s yet another day to weather.

I’d like to muster up my will,
Facing a battle that’s uphill,
Rummaging through my emotions,
Just going through the motions.

The grounds outside are calling,
Taunting a soul who’s unwilling
To slip out of the worn-out shoes,
And try to make an excuse.

Invited to have breakfast,
I let time pass so fast.
Though restraint was wearing thin,
I knew I would still win.

A wholesome bite, I thought,
The scale will not take note.
I’d been starving for a while;
It’s alright to see a smile.

So indulgence settled in,
The nice chair held me in,
Convincing me it was best
To surrender today to rest.

notes from a quiet corner

When the familiar urge to close the door creeps in, withdrawal becomes my reflex—my sanctuary, where my absence leaves no ripple.

Buried beneath relentless deadlines and mounting uncertainties, I try to appear resilient. Channeling the recluse within often feels like my only way to survive. I yearn for a distant corner where I can just be with my thoughts.

Yet despite this need for isolation, I crave real connection—a way to share an unfiltered perspective of the world. It feels as though you can only choose one; playing a role is simply the price of acceptance.

So I press the keys, setting my fingers free. Once again, I start to breathe, click-clacking myself out of the congested air.

God may not have given me the voice to speak my deepest truths aloud, but He gave me the ability to transcribe them, and for that, I am grateful. Finding my way back to this safe space is a journey worth taking, and I am finally on my way home.
